See the page:

scales) for material of some relevance to your MuSICA notes ezine.
Kids, adults [& Mozart] will love new "classical" style MIDIs
(Mozart/bach-like, etc), World's oldest flute/& Other music history
websites.
(If some flute-players object to midi "flutes" then I guess I am in
big Treble!! I probably risk being placed under a Rest! Unless I go
Bach into Haydn.)
This letter announces release of my (Canadian Bob Fink) music
compositions called "New 'Olde-Musicke' II"-- music written in
classical, baroque, counterpoint* or other old traditional styles (also
available on stereo cassette).
We hope you enjoy the midis and other web pages listed below, and if
you have a webpage, then reviews, or adding links or the midis to your
site will be appreciated.
---------------
Music can be heard (midis) at the popular webpage below (a whopping
5,ooo visits/mo at the current rate). I hope you enjoy these:
MIDIS: http://www.webster.sk.ca/greenwich/musicmid.htm
SHEETMUSIC: http://www.webster.sk.ca/greenwich/snomwp.htm
SEE BELOW for other sites, incl world-famous "Neanderthal Flute" Essay.
*NOTE: -- COUNTERPOINT includes performing two or more melodies at the
same time.
Learning to hear separately with both ears from different stereo
locations can be more fun than juggling and also includes listening for
the harmony progressions made by the melodies.
Counterpoint is the "3-D" or the "Chess" of music, emotionally and
mentally.
--------------
"I think the works you have put on the site in midi form are absolutely
fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing all of them."
-- Nigel Coombes A.T.C.L (Inner City Four Clarinet Quartet)
-------------
NOTICE: We enjoy feedback, critical or otherwise. [green@webster.sk.ca]
These midis ared best heard (so far) on Windows 3.1 w/Soundblaster &
Netscape 3. Other versions or platforms may (or may not) distort the
loudness or balance of the MIDI's separate tracks. [This would not be a
problem with the stereo tape cassette of this music, which can be
ordered by mail.] If the music seems out of balance please write us
about that as well, telling us your operating system, browser program or
soundcard, so that we can provide the best sounds possible in future.
--------------
In the series here (not all are counterpoint), counterpoint
compositions often exhibit one or more melodies solo before combining
them.
Stereo is actually part of the composition, and so for best results,
use a stereo headset.
CONTENTS INCLUDE:
1. The Joy of Counterpoint.

Bob Fink is the author of:
NEANDERTHAL FLUTE ESSAY -- Fink published his now world-famous

popular scholarly sites on the net, and has won several awards,
including being one of the "most educational sites on the Internet"
[from StudyWeb].
THE ORIGIN OF MUSIC -- (3 editions) -- This work was recognized as very
useful by Dr. Anne Draffkorn Kilmer, chair of Assyriology at the
University of California at Berkeley, and who deciphered the oldest song
known in the world (4,ooo years old). Kilmer visited Fink some years
back and they continue to correspond regularly on ethnomusicological
issues. -- NOTE: There is a shorter version ["The Origin of Music -- An
Essay"] fully outlining the same material and analyses, available to the
public.) http://www.webster.sk.ca/greenwich/og-ez.htm

the student anti-war takeover of Wayne State University in 1970
following news of the murders of 4 Kent State University students by the
National Guard); He has won a number of landmark free-speech cases (one

daily and weekly newspapers on social issues (poverty, ecology,
minorities, discrimination and the arts).
SERENDIPITY -- Computer composer program: Fink's program is Among the
first computer programs to compose (decent) music without requiring the
aid of human input. Program was nominated (and entrance fee waived) by

competition (1996). (See http://www.webster.sk.ca/greenwich/serend4.htm)
ALSO: Numerous articles on musicology, including in the scholarly
journal "Archeologia Musicalis" published from West Germany in 3
languages. http://www.webster.sk.ca/greenwich/evidence.htm
Fink has given several concerts of his music in Detroit, New York, and
elsewhere. His music (From his 1984 cassette release of "New
