$$/Instrument Donations Needed: Missoula Project for Music by People with Disabilities (MPMPD) . . . [REQ] (C)

Submitted by: Mohan Kartha <dkmkartha@yahoo.com>

Missoula Project for Music by People with Disabilities (MPMPD) aims at
bringing the benefits of music to people with disabilities. We have a
raised a small grant ($5,000) this year from the Brimstone Fund to purchase
instruments that are disabled-friendly and to pay the music instructor a
small honorarium and using that grant we are running a studio at a local
high school for 10 students with disabilities. We would like to expand our
work to another school, Russel Elementary, to benefit 8 more students.

We combine music with basic math, logic games, word games, magic tricks,
science experiments using ordinary objects, storytelling, etc. and it is
a proven method of alternative teaching that helps a learner with
disability to advance their skills levels.

Would anybody be interested in donating $1,000 or musical instruments
worth that much money to MPMPD? We use mainly hand drums, melodic
percussion, and other disabled-friendly instruments and we aim at moving
on to other instruments like the harmonica, recorder, etc.

MPMPD has non-profit status through Montana Arts and we believe that the
community of disabled people also have a right to learn music although
they might not be able to produce music at a very high technical skill level.

If you would like, I can mail to you proof of receipt of grant from
Brimstone Fund, third party verification about our work in the
community, and our certification from Montana Arts for non-profit status.
Please give us suggestions if the readers have any. Thank you.
