German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Scholarships/Fellowships . . . [FND] (02.02.01)

SCOPE: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is inviting 
applications in the following categories: Graduate Scholarship for 
Study and/or Research in Germany, Summer Language Courses at Goethe 
Institutes, Graduate Scholarship for Study and/or Research in Germany 
for Non-Enrolled Applicants, Postdoctoral Fellowships, the 
Deutschlandjahr Scholarship for Graduating Seniors, and the 
Hochschulsommerkurse for Undergraduate and Graduate Students. 

DEADLINE: For Graduate and Postdoctoral Fellowships, and for the 
Deutschlandjahr Scholarship for Graduating Seniors, the deadline for 
performing Musicians and Fine Artists is November 1, for all other 
fields, January 15. For Summer Language Courses at Goethe Institutes, 
January 31. 

FUNDS: Graduate and Postdoctoral Fellowships offer monthly stipends 
ranging from DM 754.15 to DM 920.33 depending on the level of academic 
advancement. Summer Language Courses offer tuition and fees, room and 
partial board.

ELIGIBILITY: In general, student applicants must be U.S. or Canadian 
citizens enrolled full-time in a degree granting graduate program at a 
US or Canadian university. Non-U.S. citizens who have been enrolled 
full-time in a degree-granting program at a U.S. or Canadian 
university for more than one academic year at the time of application 
may also be eligible.

For the Summer Language Courses, students in the fields of English, 
German or any other modern languages or literatures are not eligible. 
Applicants must have completed three semesters of college-level German 
or equivalent at the time of application. Preference will be given to 
applicants under 32 years of age.

Recent Ph.D. recipients, (up to two years after the completion of the 
degree,) may apply to pursue postdoctoral research at libraries, 
archives, institutes or laboratories.
