Management Change at International Foundation for Music Research
Joe Lamond, President and CEO of NAMM - International Music Products
Association, announced today that Dr. Norman Weinberger has resigned his
position as Executive Director of IFMR. "I know that the friends of IFMR
and the international scientific community joins me in expressing our thanks
to Dr. Weinberger for his leadership of IFMR," stated Lamond. "We are
grateful that he set the tone and direction for IFMR in its important
initial stages and helped lead the way to make music research a more vital
endeavor. We have valued his insight, his direction and his ambition for
the Foundation and are grateful for the many contributions that he has
made."
As of October 1, 2001, IFMR will be managed by Mary Luehrsen, NAMM's
Director of Public Affairs and Government Relations. In addition to being a
former professional flutist and music teacher, Luehrsen was the Program
Officer for the Texaco Foundation responsible for its national Earlly Notes
music education funding program.
IFMR was created as a research enterprise funded by NAMM - International
Music Products Association. News concerning IFMR programs and funding
