Invitation to Join the Music Education SIG (special interest group) of the
American Educational Research Association  (AERA)

The Music Education SIG is a special interest research group that has been
part of AERA for the past 5 years.  We have sponsored symposia, panel
presentations, and round table discussions at the AERA annual meeting, and
it has been a welcom venue for music ed researchers from around the world.
We invite you to join the SIG and become a participant in the next Annual
Meeting to be held in New Orleans, April 24 - 28, 2000.  The theme for this
meeting is "Creating Knowledge in the 21st Century:  Insights from Multiple
Perspectives."

One exciting aspect of joining the SIG is that we are allocated slots on
the annual meeting program based on our membership numbers.  So, the more
members we can sign up BY JUNE 30th the more time we have on the program.

To join the SIG, you must first join AERA.  You can do this most easily by
going to their web page <www.aera.net> and downloading the application
form.  The cost of an annual membership is $45 for faculty, $20 for
students.

Once you've joined AERA, you can then join the Music Education SIG by
filling out the hard copy application form below and forwarding it plus $10
for faculty, $5 for students (check payable to "MUSIC EDUCATION SIG") to:

If you're interested in submitting a proposal for a paper, please contact
the Program Chair, Dr. Mary Hookey at <maryh@faculty.unipissing.ca> and
request the Call for Papers.
