      MUSIC EDUCATION SIG of the American Educational Research Association

Choose a new venue for research! We are creating a new SIG for AERA which 
features only music education research.  The Annual Meeting is going on this 
year in NYC, and we are having an interest meeting tomorrow morning for those 
in attendance.  

Nancy Whitaker, UNC-Chapel Hill, is hoping to get a minimum of 45 people 
interested in the SIG who belong to AERA. She will be glad to send an 
application for AERA and the SIG to anyone who sends an email. Those people who
supported this effort last year will receive this information via snail mail.

AERA requires that we have a completed membership form (including signature)
from each member of the prospective SIG. The national office of AERA will then 
check the list of prospective members against a current membership list. The 
deadline for submitting this list of members is July 1, 1996.
