Venetian History and Culture Research Grants . . . [FND] (01.12.16)

SCOPE: The Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation is inviting applications 
for predoctoral and postdoctoral grants for travel to and residence in 
Venice and the Veneto.

DEADLINE: December 15. 

FUNDS: Grants offer up to $16,500 for a full academic year. Grants for 
the maximum amount are rarely awarded, and successful applicants are 
frequently awarded less than the amount requested. In special cases, 
scholars who have already received and accepted a Delmas grant for 
work in Venice and the Veneto are eligible to apply for a one-time 
grant of $3,000, for one month only, to work on Venetian materials in 
other European libraries and archives. Funds may also be available for 
the publication of studies made possible by Delmas grants.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must 1) be U.S. citizens or permanent 
residents of the United States, 2) have some experience in advanced 
research at the graduate level or equivalent, and 3) if graduate 
students, have fulfilled all doctoral requirements except the 
dissertation (but including acceptance of dissertation proposal) by 
December 15, 2001.

AREAS: Grants will be awarded for historical research specifically on 
Venice and the former Venetian empire and for study of contemporary 
Venetian society and culture. Disciplines of the humanities and social 
sciences are eligible areas of study, including (but not limited to) 
archaeology, architecture, art, bibliography, economics, history, 
history of science, law, literature, music, political science, 
religion, and theater. Applications for travel and residency from May 
2002 through September 2003 are eligible for consideration in the 
2002-2003 program.
