University of California President's Postdoctoral Fellowships . . . [FND] (01.11.16)




SCOPE: The University of California is inviting applications for the 
President's Postdoctoral Fellowship program. 

DEADLINE: November 15. 

FUNDS: The program awards approximately 20 fellowships annually, with 
a stipend of $32,000, which will increase upon renewal, health 
benefits, and up to $4,000 for research-related expenses. Each award 
is for one year, renewable for a second year pending demonstration of 
satisfactory progress. 

ELIGIBILITY: Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. 
Applications from qualified persons are reviewed without regard to 
race, gender, or ethnicity. Only those who anticipate completion of 
their Ph.D. degrees by July 1, 2002, should apply. 

AREAS: The program offers postdoctoral research fellowships and 
faculty mentoring to qualified scholars committed to university 
careers in research, teaching, and service that will enhance the 
diversity of the academic community at the University of California. 

For fellowships in the Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and 
Professions, the program prefers candidates whose research emphasizes 
issues such as diversity, multiculturalism, and communities 
underserved by traditional academic research. For fellowships in Math, 
Engineering, Life Science, and Physical Science, the program prefers 
candidates who have participated in teaching, mentoring, or outreach 
programs that promote educational opportunities for underrepresented 
students in higher education.
